Health Matching Activity: Hygiene Education
this matching activity is the perfect way to introduce students to six different types of hygiene as part of your hygiene lesson plan.
This hygiene lesson plan activity introduces students to the different types of personal hygiene and habits they can use to care for their bodies. As students matched the various healthy habits to the wedges of the Hygiene Wheel, they explored routine practices related to body, sleep, teeth, hand, sickness, and toilet hygiene. This interactive instant activity was a great way for students to begin building an understanding of what it means to take care of themselves and why these habits are important for their health and well-being.

How the Wheel of Hygiene Matching Activity Works
This is a super-easy matching activity. It just took a little bit of prep (but you could easily simplify it by opting out of the laminating and clothespins). I printed off enough sets for students to work in groups of three and stored them in a big Ziplock (these are my favorite).
The directions are pretty straightforward, I just asked students to match each healthy habit to the type of hygiene it connects to. When they were done, we examined the different types of hygiene.

Debrief and Reflection
After the activity, we just spent some time debriefing. I asked students to identify personal examples of the different healthy habits. I also encouraged them to share additional healthy habits they could think of that connected to the various types of hygiene. Overall, it was a hit! The students especially liked the clothespins 🤪
